And then we saw the Kavala! We both fell instantly in love with it. For each selection of our reno (floor, backsplash, counter, cabinets) I think we looked at over 100 samples of each. The floor was the first we had to select. I knew I wanted light floors but we just couldn’t find the right one, even though a good friend of ours runs a large flooring company in Toronto. We went everywhere and looked at everything! It couldn’t be too yellow, or too grey, or too busy, or too plain or too “normal”. And then we saw the Kavala! We both fell instantly in love with it. When we asked the price, the funny look on the sale rep’s face indicated it was out of our requested price range. So we continued for another month, going from one end of the city to the other. Twice more we saw “our” floor and reluctantly moved on. Until….we couldn’t stand it anymore, nothing measured up after seeing the Kavala so we re-worked the budget and bought it. Not for one second have we been sorry about the decision.Installation day was so exciting; we couldn’t wait to see it. When we just had a few boards down, I was jumping up and down with excitement because it is truly the most beautiful floor I have ever seen. The more that went down, the more we loved it. The colour is perfect, warm and yet light, with the strips of sapwood highlighting each area.
